Clinton’s approval polls were very high, indicting that the people approved of the work he            was doing. As a result, his party embraced him with open arms and supported him.

2. What are differences between the investigations that led to the Clinton impeachment and the potential Trump impeachment?
The Clinton’s investigation was driven by Starr’s report. On the other hand, the Democrats are constructing a case for impeachment daily. While Clinton’s affair was seen as a “private affair” by the public, Trump’s actions are extremely public.
3. What trends in public opinion about impeachment occurred in the lead up to the formal announcement of impeachment by the House against President Clinton?
Impeachment was not popular during the events leading up to Clinton’s formal impeachment announcement. According to a poll, forty-eight percent of the public was in favor of holding hearings.
4. What was the effect of the impeachment on the 1998 midterm elections for the Republicans?
Republicans continued to blast Clinton for his actions,and it backfired on them due to the public’s continued support.

A plethora of Democrats voted in favor of further investigation, but only a mere 31 democrats voted in favor of impeachment.

Ten republican senators voted to acquit Clinton of at least one charge.

As the impeachment proceedings progress, Democrats should keep in mind that it will be seen as a political tactic. Without Republican support, impeachment efforts will be seen as partisan.

Clinton’s investigation was based off of Starr’s investigation. On the other hand,Trump’s impeachment investigation was based off of the Democrats building their own investigation.

Clinton’s impeachment was based off lying about his affair and had been revealed in Starr’s report. However, Trump’s impeachments issues revolve around his misuse of presidential power.
